THIS YEAR KEYNOTE SPEAKER

dr. Jure Knez, president & cofounder Dewesoft d.o.o. will talk about 3 extraordinary steps to business excellence

In 2000, dr. Jure Knez and his partners founded Dewesoft, a multinational company that manufactures highly innovative measuring instruments. Dr. Knez has been encouraging employee co-ownership since the beginning, as he believes this guarantees the long-term success of the company and its people (already over 80 owners). He has also founded the entrepreneurial accelerator Katapult to help startups. He also uses his innovativeness in marketing communication, as his company is known for absolutely "wacky" promotional activities (for example, when they go to a fair, they take Miss Slovenia with them). Today, Dewesoft has 17 branches located all over the world. With an average annual growth rate of more than 20%, it is one of the fastest growing companies within the industry and has one of the highest added values among companies owned by Slovenians. Also, do you know that after 50 years, NASA will return to the moon with the help of Dewesoft technology?

Thematic Lectures

This lecture will take us on an overview journey of PV power plants in the EU. It will discuss different types of PV power plants, solar irradiance in Europe, solar potential in the Balkans, and, finally, there will also be a discussion about challenges in the industry, like the workforce, power grid, supply chains, etc.

When speaking of surface treatment like sandblasting, shot peening, vapor blasting, etc., most people get the impression that this is some "dirty job" in some companies, yet this perception is unrealistic. Almost every manufactured part in any industry needs surface treatment during production, and the Ferrocrtalic company has fully automated this job. Using robots or gantry manipulators, complete control of surface treatment with reports for every batch not only assures the process is repeatable, but also enables traceability of production, elimination of the risk of damaged parts, and a lot of money saved.

By deploying the right person with the right knowledge to the right workstation with the right tool in real-time, to do the necessary work operation at the right time, to produce the right product in the right quantity, she managed to raise the productivity and output of the assembly line despite the large portfolio of produced products. Manual scheduling of 80 employees/shift is almost impossible, so she developed, together with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ljubljana, the »Digital Twin« - the tool for real-time employee scheduling.«

LEAD logistics is a term we use to describe a lean approach toward logistics strategy. There are many challenges logistics function needs to face in the next 5 years: Continuous optimization, digitalization, CO2 reduction, etc. Companies are looking into the logistics-as-a-service model.
